Butterfly Kiss Moscato

Name: Butterfly Kiss Moscato
Variety: Moscato
Country: Chile
Year: 2012
Price: $6
Wine Review: Aromas of honeydew and apricot, gently kissed by orange blossom, candied pineapple and a hint of lime zest.

My Review: With this wine, the first connection I could make was woody. The earthy tone were very prevalent with a slight fruity feel. This wine was very smooth with a sweet finish. This was a complex wine with nice melon flavors continuing to the long lasting end. A nice tasting wine that I’d be interested in trying again.

Food: This wine was tasted with no food due to tasting it at the Vintage Cellar.

Purple Paws Zinfandel

Name: Purple Paws Zinfandel
Variety: Zinfandel
Region: Lodi
Country: California- USA
Year: 2012
Price: $8
Vintage Cellar Review: It smells like ripe boysenberries and cherries, and tastes generous and broad without being too full bodied. It finishes with more fruit notes and those who love a little spice and smooth tannins will be happy.

My Review: This wine tasted like cherry again relating to the Purple Paws Cabernet Sauvignon. Unlike the cabernet, the fruity aromas stayed with the wine from first smell to after taste. This wine wasn’t as balanced and felt more of the alcohol going down. This was another nice wine from the California winery.

Purple Paws Cabernet Sauvignon Non Vintage

Name: Purple Paws Cabernet Sauvignon Non Vintage
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Lodi
Country: California- USA
Year: Non Vintage
Price: $8
Vintage Cellar Review: If a Cabernet can be smooth and creamy, this one is. It offers plenty of fruit flavor, smooth tannins that coat the mouth in a good way, plus a plush texture that keeps it from being even a bit harsh. With light body, a soft mouthfeel and lingering finish, there’s much to like.

My Review: This was my first exposure to Purple Paws wines but I definitely look forward to trying other varieties they have to offer. This wine smelled sour and smoky but when tasting it, the wine took on a whole new meaning. The cherry in this wine was extremely powerful and lasted a long time. Since cherry is one of my favorite flavors, this wine was a good one.
