Tasting- Folatre Carmenere

Name: Folatre Viendos Carmenere
Variety: Carmenere
Region: Curico Valley
Country: Chile
Year: 2014
Price: $8

Wine Review: Dark garnet color or great intensity with an aroma of generous ripe red fruit and merged peppers with toasted French oak. A silky, flavorful mouth feel, creamy with great volume. Firm tannins provide an enjoyable finish. Best paired with light hors d’oeuvres and pastas.- Winemaker

My Review: This 14.0% alcohol wine was a treat. It possessed a very dark rich red brown color. From smelling, I detected earthy and woody tones. Although it had a high alcohol content, this was a very balanced wine which was a pleasant surprise. The oak really came through in both the smell and taste in the flavor of this full bodied wine. This smooth silky wine is a much try and is highly recommended.

Food: This wine was tasted with no food.
