Tasting- Insomnia Sauvignon Blanc

Name: Insomnia Sauvignon Blanc
Variety: Sauvignon Blanc
Region: Buellton
Country: USA- California
Year: 2013
Price: $9
Wine Critic Review: This is a markedly complex wine with aromas of Asian pear, star fruit, some lean lemon citrus notes, with very subtle hints of fresh coconut, sea salt, and Thai basil. The mouth entry is silky and supple, and there are flavors of lemon marmalade and
acacia honey (very subtle), and a white floral component. The finish flows into an
ethereal chalkiness that drifts gradually away. Enjoy this food-friendly wine with
lightly seared scallops or other favorite shellfish, pastas in cream sauces, Thai curries,
or rich dishes like pan-seared foie gras.”- Insomnia website

My Review: This 13.8% alcohol wine was a good tasting yellow gold wine. It was a light and airy with a citrusy initial taste. This was a wet wine with a slightly bitter aftertaste. This was a medium bodied wine that transitioned from sweet to slightly bitter after about 15 seconds. Overall, I’d recommend this wine. This was also the coolest label in the store as the eyes of the animal open or close depending on the angle you look at it.

Food: This wine was tasted with no food.
